Accounting Technician We are seeking a full cycle Accounting Technician to join our client’s busy office within the manufacturing sector. If you enjoy a fast paced environment with a dynamic team and are detail oriented than this could be a great opportunity for you! We are seeking a professional, who is confident, organized, with strong administrative and computer skills utilizing MS Office Suite, Sage 50 (Simply Accounting) and Intuitive ERP Software. This role’s principle responsibilities include corporation’s cash management, all accounts receivable and payable, fixed assets, provincial/federal and commodity taxes, and other reporting functions. This permanent, full-time position is 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday and is located in the heart of Kamloops. As the Accounting Technician you will be responding to financial information requests and concerns of other departments and assisting in the development of solutions to common business challenges. You will be able to proactively resolve accounting and financial issues and demonstrate innovation by developing and implementing improvements to business processes. Accounts Receivable • Daily Enter Cash Receipts in two currencies • Daily bank deposit • Record Credit Notes • Fax Monthly Statements • Follow-up with customers requesting documents to support deductions Accounts Payable • Match purchase orders to packing slips • Match packing slip to Accounts Payable invoices • Entry of invoices into Intuitive ERP Software • Coding of Freight invoices • Thursday Process cheques and file paid invoices Shipping Division • Gather paperwork from trucking division employees § Enter time into Excel § Print tonnage amounts and verify to paperwork from truckers § Give tonnage and time to Payroll Department • Weekly enter repairs and fuel into computer from manual documents Financial Statements • Monthly Analyze Inventory Receipts for financial statement analysis • Monthly Financial reports • Bank Reconciliation of 2 banks/currencies within Intuitive ERP Payroll • Calculate Straight and Overtime for approximately 50 full time employees • Enter and Process payroll through Sage 50 • Process ROE’s online • Complete WCB documentation regarding earnings Inventory – cross train for vacation relief only • Daily data entry • Enter Inventory Receipts for incoming supplies • Monthly Reconciliation of On Hand quantities Administrative • General administrative tasks when required specific to job (filing, archiving data, create files and labels, etc) The successful candidate will have the following experience and skills: • 3-5 years in a bookkeeping or accounting technician role • Experienced with Simply Accounting and familiarity with Intuitive ERP Software is an asset • Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude • Demonstrated ability to build strong and trusting relationships with managers, employees and peers • Vast knowledge of principles of accounting with the ability to apply them in a practical way • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information in an easily understood manner tailoring the communication to diverse audiences to facilitate understanding • Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work within established deadlines and time constraints • Demonstrated ability to act on your own initiative and exercise professional judgment • The ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Self-motivated, can work independently, as well as being part of a team • Exceptional interpersonal and motivational skills • Excellent problem solving and an analytical thinker Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in or have a Professional Accounting Designation (CMA, CGA, CA) If you feel confident that you could nail this position and are looking for a solid, caring company to become a part of where you will feel valued and recognized, then please respond with your resume and a detailed cover letter to the job opportunities section under www.excel.bc.ca directly to this job.
