Performs basic and clerical bookkeeping support functions including data entry, record keeping and minimal reporting for a multitude of accounts and/or locations. Processes accounts payable and/ or receivable documentation and makes appropriate entries into the approved accounting system; works with vendors to ascertain status of checks and accounts; works with Divisional or local finance staff to accomplish the bookkeeping functions for the location.
Maintains filing system of human resources documents; tracks attendance balances and leave requests; audits, edits and submits time and attendance information to the payroll system; processes health insurance enrollment and termination information, background checks, and employment verification.
Note that this is a part time position, working 20 hours per week.
Knowledge of the practices and procedures of basic bookkeeping work; project management skills necessary to track activity of a multitude of accounts and ensure compliance with approved guidelines and deadlines for the same; general office practices and procedures. Ability to: monitor account activity and ensure compliance with a multitude of guidelines and budget constraints; review check requests and supporting documents in order to determine compliance with established guidelines; research account discrepancies and/or inquiries and provide accurate and complete information; perform account reconciliations in order to ensure that accounts balance; process financial documents quickly and with independent thought in order to meet tight deadlines; accurately and completely communicate the status of accounts to the divisions by telephone or mail in a courteous and timely manner; maintain the confidential nature of personnel related information; reconcile bank statements in an accurate, efficient manner; organize, maintain, and secure personnel records in an effective manner; communicate effectively with all levels of staff; and prepare payroll records and meet established deadlines.
Proficient in the use of Excel.
High School Diploma OR G.E.D. AND two years experience performing progressively responsible accounting and/or bookkeeping work in an office environment with limited supervision OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
$11.75 - $12.00 hourly
