Hyde Park Hair Salon “The Official Barbershop of President Obama is seeking a Seasoned Curator/Art consultant to join aboard our team and carry forth our “Seated Stories” A Barbers Tale touring art exhibition.
Candidate Must:
• Plan, organize, interpret and present exhibition
• Research and write catalogues
• Produces exhibit text labels
• Manage all aspects of the changing exhibition schedule.
• Conduct research and prepares concept scripts, conceptual designs and detail designs, incorporating all media necessary to interpret an exhibit’s key messages.
• Work closely with Owners as well as the Media & Marketing Personality of Hyde Park Hair Salon to plan future tour dates
This position is a volunteer position that offers no monetary compensation, but will present many networking opportunities and exposure. A stipend will be offered at a later date as the exhibition grows.

History/Synopsis
Hyde Park Hair Salon opened it doors in Hyde Park in 1927 and has serviced many great figures, visitors, and long time clients along with their most prestigious client President Barack Obama. On July 12, 2009 they previewed their highly anticipated exhibition "Seated Stories" A Barbers Tale which explores and celebrates the art, culture and tradition of barbering from 1927 to the present.
The exhibition is a mixed media exhibit featuring works from commissioned artists. The "Seated Stories" precursor previewed at the Aloft Hotel in Rosemont, IL on July 12, 2009 and partial proceeds from this charity event assisted many not-for-profit organizations.
"Seated Stories" highlights the changes and transformations the barbershop has undergone throughout the years. It also takes a closer look at the meaning and significance of the barbering culture while gaining a greater appreciation of its aesthetic impact.
"Seated Stories" A Barbers Tale features original paintings, sculptures, and limited edition Giclee' prints that embody the history, culture, and art of barbering in the Hyde Park Hair Salon
