description:
this vessel is coast guard inspected and in fair condition. its listed well under n.a.d.a. book value and your basically getting the $3000 trailer for free. it is set up and ready for trolling lake erie. but we also spent many nights aboard up in put in bay. last year we were caught 18 miles out in a storm that produced 10'-12' waves. when i say waves i don't mean ocean swells, i mean breaking, crashing white caps that only the great lakes produce. you can't go over these waves, you batten down the hatches and dive under them so believe me when i say this is the most seaworthy boat i've ever owned. i wouldn't be here if it wasn't. i'm selling because i work 70+ hours a week and can no longer give her the attention she deserves, let alone find time to take her out. i'll probably cry when she does go. she has a clear title. ohio does not technically title trailers but i have all the necessary papers and weight slip to get trailer plates. i also have tons of gear (rods/line counter reels, planer boards, dipsey divers, jet divers, nets, hundreds of trolling spoons, crank baits, and crawler harnesses, and more that i'll give you a good deal on if your interested. last year the fishing on erie was the best its been since the record setting years of the mid '80s and is forecasted to be just as good this year. lake erie is, in any book, a world class walleye, steelhead, smallmouth , and perch fishery that truly is second to none. get an early start with this vessel.
the good:
the hull is in excellant shape and structually sound, no soft spots anywhere. the motor was proffessionally rebuilt in '04. the flex plate was proffessionally replaced new and the outdrive completely rebuilt in '06. all new tires in '06 and new wheel bearings in '07. new holly marine carberator in '07 (originally had a rochester quadrajet that i still have if you want it). all new hoses and plugs and wires in '07. two brand new 800+ cranking amp deep cycle marine batteries that have only been used once. professionally winterized and fogged every year. i checked compression at the end of last year just for the hell of it, all cylinders are above 180 psi each.
the bad:
as with most boats this age, the wood which is teak, needs refinished. the clear coat is chipping in some places and she has a small amount of dock rash in spots. there is a good size chip in the fiberglass on the anchor plank because if you launch the boat with the trailer to deep she tends to catch on the winch post, (see photos). the trailer brakes don't work because some of the right side brake assembly isn't there. its been like that since i bought it, but i havent fixed it because i only use the trailer twice a year. if you plan to trailer it to and from every time then you will want to fix them. i had the marina install a smaller prop, because even with drift socks i couldn't get it to slow down to troll speeds, so it will go much faster with a bigger prop. at the end of last year she started running a bit rough at cruising speeds so i filed down the points and reset them at 20 thousandths. it ran great for awhile but now there isn't spark going to some cylinders so she's going to need a new set, which costs about $20 dollars plus labor if you have someone else do it. also the front bilge needs a new limit switch ( they sell them at walmart).
thats as honest an assessment as i can make and your more than welcome to call me at 330 984 7971 or email me at tweeterman1000@yahoo.com with any questions or to see more pics or to set up an appointment to see it.
