Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Breakfast and Mass Celebration

January 21, 2013 (8-11 a.m., and 5-7pmm respectively)

 

(Los Angeles-CA)  The African American Catholic Center for Evangelization (AACCFE) and the Knights of Peter Claver and Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary (KPC & KPCLA) will celebrate the life and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 21, 2013 with breakfast in the morning and mass (church service) in the evening. 

 

      The African American Catholic Center for Evangelization (AACCFE) will host their 19th Annual Breakfast held from 8a.m. - 11a.m. at St. Mary’s Academy, 701 Grace Ave., and one block north from the corner of Prairie Ave.  and Florence Ave., in the city of Inglewood, CA 90301.   The students of the Thea Bowman Academy will perform a drama skit and praise dance; musical praises will be sung by the AACCFE Mass Choir.  This year’s theme: “Reconciling Wisdom, Justice, and Love,” by guest speaker Dr. C. Vanessa White.  She is a professor of spirituality at the Catholic Theological Union and director of the Tolton Pastoral Ministry Program in Chicago, faculty member at Xavier University in New Orleans’ Black Catholic Studies, in addition to being a member of the Association of Lay Ministry and Black Women in Ministry. Parking is free.  Donation for breakfast is $25/person. Tickets can be purchased at the AACCFE or at the door.

      Later that day, everyone is welcome to attend the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary (KPC & KPCLA) 6th  Annual MLK Mass/church service from 5p.m. - 7p.m., at Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral, 555 Temple Street (corner or Temple and Grand Ave.), Downtown Los Angeles, CA, 90012.  Parking is $5.00 per car.  The KPC Gospel Choir will provide the songs for praise and worship.  This year the presider and homilist will be Bishop Clark.

      AACCFE, under the direction of Mr. Anderson Shaw serves approximately 25,000 African American Catholics within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  For over ten years the AACCFE has developed and supported programs of evangelization and education and provides opportunities for the African American Catholic community to gather and share resources, talents, and gifts.  The AACCFE also actively promotes outreach efforts to raise the consciousness of all communities to the rich contributions of African American Catholic to the Church.  For additional information call (323) 777-2106, Fax (323) 777-2151, email ashaw4aaccfe@sbcglobal.net, or visit our website www.AACCFE.com.
