Job Description: Defines and supports the processes required to manufacture drive train components in a high volume production facility utilizing CNC machinery (turning, grinding, drilling milling, heat treating, gear cutting). This position will assist with the new products and volume up of current models, specifically GEARS.

Job Requirements:

* Defines the manufacturing process required to produce drive train, components (shafts,gears,castings, planetary carriers and processes such as hobbing, and shaping)

* Documents the process, control plans, reaction plans, PFMEA, and updates as required when new models are introduced.

* Defines the gauging methods to be utilized in high volume manufacturing of drive train components.

* Support purchasing supplier quality and manufacturing during ongoing production of new products and other critical periods.

* Confers with management, engineering, maintenance and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to support a 3 shift manufacturing facility.

* Develops specifications and procures machine tools, tooling, and gauges.

* Defines investment plans for future product designs, estimates manpower, and plans capacities for future and current manufactured components.

* Understands and applies statistical methods relative to determining the capability of machinery and processes.

* Utilizes problem solving techniques (8 step, design of experiments, mistake proofing) Initiates, recommends or provides solutions through designated channels.

* Creates CNC programs edits and improves as required.

* Assists plant layout in the placement of machinery and participates in material handling strategies.

* Has a working knowledge of QS 9000 and or ISO process of certification.

* Has a working knowledge of automation used in manufacturing, i.e. robotics, conveyors, pick and place devices, etc.

* Provides support to training activities for shop floor personnel.

* Pursues relative personal training for continual knowledge growth.



Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, or other technical degrees or significant related experience plus 5 years working experience withCNC machinery in high volume GEAR manufacturing (prefer automotive tier 1 or tier 2).. Excellent oral and written skills. Capable of interfacing with corporate staff, vendors, customers and employees. Having experience with plant start ups and major product launches is a plus.Requires a high level of experience with GEARS, hobbing, and shaping.

Physical Demands

Highly energetic and motivated individual wanting to work in a team oriented environment and be a significant contributor in a plant start up of high volume automotive products. The job will require more than the normal amount of setting, standing, and moving about the facility. Some travel required. Able to perform normal computer operations (spread sheets, email, project tracking, and presentations).
