Minimum Requirements: The minimum qualifications for this position include:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

• 10 years of soft soil engineering, dam studies, investigation and design, and working on Geotechnical engineering applied to environmental remediation projects experience; a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering can substitute for two years of work experience
• PE License in WA, able to obtain in AK, ID, MT, CA, NV, BC, AB, SK,MB, YT, NT & NU within a year of hire.
• Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, ASDSO at state and federal level
• Demonstrated geotechnical study and design competence and experience in the following: Soft soils and sediments, Environmental remediation, Dams, Excavations, Slopes, CERCLA, RCRA, ASDSO at state and federal level
• Experience using SLOPE/W, SHAKE, LiequfyPro, EasyFrisk software
• Knowledge of health and safety policies
• Teamwork as opposed to "do-all" attitude
• Experience working on project schedules and budgets and the ability to deliver project work quality to client satisfaction
• Strong experience with Chilean H&S regulations in Chile
• Knowledge and experience success related to civil/geotechnical business initiatives throughout the Mountain Region
• Effective leadership skills in driving effective project execution of civil/geotechnical mining projects
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interface with personnel at all levels - both within the client organization and also within the local and regional URS organization
• Exhibit an executive presence, yet be approachable and comfortable in an "open door" culture
• High degree of personal and professional integrity will be a key factor in the success of the individual

Training Requirements:
• Must speak / read English and Spanish

Computer Proficiency:
• Microsoft Office Software
• Internet

• Willingness to relocate and travel across Chile.
• Ability to work in a high-tech environment and be part of a team working toward common goals
• Experience with Chilean regulations and permitting / emergency management highly desired
• Proven ability to train employees and implement EHS programs

Job Description: URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and experienced Geotechnical Engineer well experienced in Mining projects and specifically in Mining Industry for immediate employment in the Chile office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in in Geotechnical Engineering, specific to the Mining Industry. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including Data center construction, control equipment installation and O&M management.

Responsibilities will include, among others:
• Work effectively with the Infrastructure & Environment and Energy and Construction Divisions regional and local operations management and business line leaders to lead, coordinate and ultimately develop effective strategies for business development with the mining industry in the Mountain Region
• Lead and develop soft soil/tailings engineering projects in high seismicity areas for mining and mining related projects, such as tailings dams and impoundments, sediment control dams and ponds, water storage dams and reservoirs, waste rock disposal, open pit development, port development, road and rail developments, mine closures and mine infrastructure, at all levels of the project from prefeasibility studies through engineering and design through construction and operations through closure and reclamation
• Proactive client (good and bad news) communications
• Stay current with relevant state-of-practice technology advances
• Will be aware of relevant state-of-art technology advances
• This is a career building position and the successful candidate will assume leadership role in short time
