Stars Align for Cary's Annual Starlight Concert Series
Downtown Performers Series, Seven O’Clock Rock Series continue with NC favoritism

CARY, NC – Music lovers looking to celebrate notes and tones from all corners of the world should mark their calendars for the Town of Cary’s four-part Starlight Concert Series, which opens June 13 with Raleigh-based Old Habits Bluegrass Band.

Cary’s StarlightConcert Series features bluegrass, country, Celtic and reggae bands on Fridays through July 25 at the Page-Walker Arts & History Garden on the Town Hall Campus. Concerts are free and start at 7 p.m. Food and lawn chairs are permitted; alcoholic beverages and pets are not allowed.

“With the grass under your feet, stars above your head and scents from the lush gardens surrounding you, the Starlight Concert Series makes for a uniquely distinct downtown Cary concert series favorite,” said Jennifer Koach, Cultural Arts Program Specialist. Koach noted that Starlight is one of the Town’s longest running series, now in its 16th season.

Music from across North Carolina doesn’t stop with Friday’s Starlight Series show. Return to downtown Cary June 14 at 7 p.m. when Steph Stewart & the Boyfriends, a Chapel Hill-based Americana folk band take over the Downtown Performance Green as part of the Downtown Performers Series.

On June 20, jazz up the night with the Town of Cary’s Seven O’Clock Rock: Swing Night with the Tar River Swing Band. Located at the intersection of Chatham and Academy Streets, Swing Night opens with a free dance lesson at 7 p.m. followed by a performance by the eight-piece swing band from Rocky Mount, North Carolina at 7:30 p.m. To safely host Seven O’Clock Rock, the Town of Cary will close Academy Street from Cedar Street to Chatham Street at 3 p.m. to begin setting up for the event; at 6 p.m., the intersection of South Academy and Chatham Streets will close for the event until 10 p.m.

For all three concert series, free parking is available at the Town Hall parking deck on Wilkinson Avenue. In the event of inclement weather, please call (919) 896-5522 for updates.
