This “Classic” Seattle (1916) 3 bedroom, 1 3/4 bath home was moved to its present location at 312 29thAvenue East on July 25th. It's previous address was 3603 East Denny Way in Madrona. This, and one other beautiful older home, were part of a ‘rescue’ that involved a collaboration between the ‘Epiphany School’, Nickel Brothers House Moving Company, the Seattle City Government, various utility companies, and many private individuals and neighbors who lent their patience, support, time and effort. We thank them all!!
Although our beautiful home was, and is still a 'green-colored' Craftsman, our website is also wordplay on the ubiquitous use of the term ’green’ to suggest an environmentally friendly building style. Not only did we use some green/salvaged building materials on this rejuvenation, the “entire” house was salvaged from the despair of the wrecking ball. We single-handedly, deprived the local landfill of 100 tons of otherwise architecturally significant 'waste'.
The house has a new 9' ceiling height basement/foundation with one car garage, all of which was poured on oversized cement footings for superior strength. All the utility lines and connections running to the house, and in the basement area, including water, electric, gas and sewer are brand new, and the high-efficiency furnace and ductwork are also new. It’s worthy to note that much of the existing plumbing and electrical systems on the upper floors had been recently updated prior to the move. Also noteworthy is that during the foundation/design phase of the restoration, we decided to create alternate architectural renderings for either a one or two bedroom finished basement floor plan. These plans are available to a new owner.
The main and upper floors have new paint throughout. The clear fir floors on the upper floor have recently been re-done with a ‘Swedish’ finish, and the main floors have beautiful oak hardwood throughout, including in the kitchen and bathroom. All the bedrooms which are on the upper floor, are large, w/large walk-in closets, and there is a sweet little garden/sunroom off one of the bedrooms. The kitchen counters are beautiful new granite, and the stainless appliances are new as well. There are leaded-glass bookshelf dividers between the living-room and dining-room areas, and a great "bay" window seat in the dining-room with storage underneath.
This house and its surrounding neighborhood has so many great amenities, and all are within walking distance. From the beach and shops of Madison Park, to incredible schools (Helen Bush, Epiphany, the Valley School etc…) and nearby restaurants, coffee, shopping, bus lines, and the arboretum. We won’t list everything here, but we do invite you to please come see for yourself as we finish tidying up, and put on the finishing touches.
If you have any questions about the purchase of the house, or would like a viewing, please call, or e-mail the numbers listed below.
