came across a sealed gold box. Glazing in wild wonder, we opened
the box to find an old leather pouch containg a gould doubloon,
a black silk eye patch, a hand-scrawled recipe to a long
fogotten condiment and a small bode of unknow origin. Thus we
christened this savory sauce from the briny blue Pirates Blend.
Shiver me timbers, can you say Lizano? This Caribbean concoction
is in a class by itself, with nary a one comparable condiment
here on the mainland. A ginger, cumin, mustard, garlic, celery
and cayenne sauce, Pirates Blend really shines on all seafoods,
poultry, pork, red or black beans, rice dishes, Mexicali dishes
and eggs. It is spicier than it is hot, and there is not a table
in Costa Rica that does not have a variation of this sauce on
it. It is da kine. It sure makes a lifetime of beans, chicken
and rice more palatable. Ingredients: Water, Cane Sugar,
