Jim is the V.P. of Engineering at ClassifiedAds.com, where he is responsible for leading and managing the company's engineering team. Originally from England, Jim moved to Seattle to pursue a bachelor's degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in Information Technology) at the University of Washington. After working his way through college as a bartender and a short stint with the Boeing Company as a systems administrator, Jim went back to school to pursue a Masters in Software Engineering from Seattle University.
Jim has worked in high tech in the Puget Sound region for 20+ years, primarily in e-commerce and online legal services. Most recently Jim was Director of Software Engineering at Intellectual Ventures, where he directed the global development staff, grew the software engineering team from 25 to 60+ employees and contractors and introduced greater predictability, efficiency and quality to the development process.
Previously Jim was Director of Product Development at Applied Discovery, where he built one of the first online electronic discovery platforms, expanded the engineering team from 6 to 35 employees and oversaw all product development.
Prior to Applied Discovery, Jim was VP of Development at CobWeb, where he designed and built a hosted e-commerce platform for small- to mid-sized businesses and was a member of the company's executive team that grew the company from 3 to 50 employees. Jim began his career with Online Interactive, a company that sold software on AOL, Compuserve and Prodigy, where he designed the company's e-commerce platform and applications and managed the development and QA teams.
Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys, volunteering in junior baseball, golfing (as the third best golfer in the family) and reading.
