The markings on this handmade Sterling Silver Cat Brooch date it to post 1979. The tail is textured with a embossed detail. This kitty reminds me of the retro kitten poster with the cat hanging from the limb and the saying "Hang in there baby".  The branch is made of brass and the rest of the cat is sterling silver.  The cat measures approximately 3" tall and 2" across the branch,  which is his widest point. On the backside it is hallmarked: Mexico, Sterling, 925, and TS-78 and weighs 15 grams and has a secure locking pin closure. It has it's original Patina.  After purchase let me know if you want it to be shipped as is, or dipped in silver polish.

The TS-78 is a code with the T standing for Taxco and the S is the first letter of the last name of the silversmith and the 78th silversmith whose name starts with S on the register. This system was used instead of the lion and eagle. The great beauty and craftmanship coming out of Taxco has earned worldwide recognition and fame and is known as the Silver Capital of Mexico
