Description
Respond to this AdThis 1920's vintage ring is stunning. The specimen of malachite choosen for this handmade ring is beautifully cut into a cabachon pear (teardrop) of approximately 3cts. The setting is sterling silver with handmade prongs to hold the stone in place over the ages. It is hallmarked 929 sterling silver and signed with the maker's initials. The center stone has marcasites set into marquis shaped silver "leafes" with raised milgrain workmanship in the silver. Malachite is naturally formed from copper-containing solutions in or near copper deposits. This was a popular stone with the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Romans. It was used for amulets and in jewelry. This ring weighs 5.1 grams and is a sizeable 7.
