SUMMARY:
The Financial Evaluator is responsible for assessing patient's ability to pay for healthcare services. This individual:
- administers sliding fee accordingly,
- acts as advocate for the patients pertaining to all financial needs;
- serves as linkage Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Registers all new patients and enters data in computer
Administers sliding fee scale according to Federal guidelines
Administers All Kids applications according to Health and Family Services (HFS) guidelines
Reviews and assesses sliding scale applicants annually
Documents patient interviews and outcomes; submits appropriate monthly reports
Acts as advocate between client and third party payors, including Medicaid/Medicare
Performs follow up with financial case management as requested
Conducts internal referrals when necessary
Responsible for the confidentiality of patient information and records
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Degree or equivalent (GED)
Experience:
Minimum 2 years experience in medical facility setting working with Medicaid, Medicare and third party insurance.
General knowledge of community agencies and organizations.
Demonstrated Competencies:
Very strong organizational, clerical and communication skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Computer literate including MS Outlook & Excel
Avoid scams and fraud
Signs of fraud: wire transfer, money orders, cashier checks, shipping, escrow, "transaction protection", "guarantee". Be safe by dealing locally.
