Description

Overview

Develops and sustains an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice and the care of patients on the patient care unit. Plans and directs the operational, budgetary, and personnel activities of a designated area. Develops nursing policies and standards for the delivery of care. Focuses on customer service as it relates to patients, visitors, family members, staff and physicians including working collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure an efficient, team approach to the delivery of patient care. If responsible for quality initiatives: collaborates with CNO/Director of Quality to provide quality review activities. Guides assigned areas in utilization of recognized improvement tools, data analysis and outcome measures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develops and sustains an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice and promotes quality patient care with a focus on safety.
Develops programs and strategies to monitor the quality of patient care and patient outcomes.
Promotes collaboration with medical and administrative colleagues in establishing the unit's patient care goals and daily operations.
Ensures that the philosophy, standards and polices of the organization are translated into action on the patient care unit.
Develops, justifies and implements, in collaboration with the Director, the long-term staffing pattern, personnel complement needs and recruitment plan for the patient care unit.
Allocates resources to achieve clinical care and financial goals by preparing monitoring and maintaining approved salary and non salary budgets.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred.
3-5 years of nursing leadership experience required.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills

Current New York Licensed Registered Nurse.
