Job Title: Church Secretary
Reports To: Pastor/Board of Trustees
Position Status: Part-time, 20 hours/week
Salary: $10.50 per hour
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
· Provide clerical assistance to Senior Pastor, and staff as needed
· Gather content, prepare, lay out and print weekly Sunday Bulletin for worship service
· Maintain information related to membership, new member recruitment, and visitor communication
· Maintain website, blog, Yahoo groups, and church calendar; including uploads of calendar changes, sermon notes, and other content as needed
· Prepare and send weekly email to church members
· Gather content, prepare, lay out and print (through electronic media) monthly newsletter
· Notify Pastor and “Called to Care” Committee regarding members’ medical/disability issues; and births, weddings, and death announcements for members and their families
· Work with Board of Diaconate to keep the permanent church register information current
· Maintain worship attendance records in membership software
· Record weekly income in church management software
· Create advertisements and other publications (flyers, brochures, press releases) through electronic media
· Prepare bulk mailings when necessary
· Order office supplies
The qualified candidate will:
· Have an associate’s degree or relevant work experience
· Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including Word and Excel, and learn and use email delivery software and church management software
· Demonstrate ability to operate office equipment, such as computers, telephone systems, photocopiers, mailing devices, presentation equipment
· Maintain confidentiality of all records of the church, staff and members
· Demonstrate attention to detail, ability to work within deadlines, and provide good follow-through on assignments
· Present a pleasant, welcoming personality, and have good communication skills
· Maintain good interpersonal relationships with fellow staff and church members, and show a commitment to teamwork.
· Provide positive support for the church and its’ ministries
· Be dependable in attendance, timeliness, and work completed within a shift
Additional working conditions:
· Weekend and evening work when needed
· Lifting and carrying (25lb. maximum)
· Repetitive hand motion
