Basic Function: Position is responsible for mortgage loans originated by correspondents according to guidelines set by Known Financial, FNMA, FHLMC and FHA. Underwrite wholesale mortgage loans to determine acceptability with the secondary market standards set by the investor. The position will also re-underwrite and verify monthly, a sampling of loans to insure the accuracy of the documentation delivered by the wholesale correspondent. Underwriters have frequent day-to-day communication with external and internal customers alike. Responsibilities: Daily management of the Wholesale/ Correspondence Underwriting Department. Underwrite loan files in accordance with investor, product, state and company requirements. Underwrite loan files to ensure quality loans for the Bank. Maintain open lines of communication between underwriting, brokers, correspondents and account executives. Underwrite government loans in accordance with HUD and VA.
