Function

·          Seeking direct care staff are workers who look after Consumers---called residents---who are suffering from mental or other disabilities and are living in a Semi independent  home. These staff members are primarily focused on helping their residents live life as independently as possible and achieve as many of their aspirations as possible. Direct care staff members are responsible for cleaning the personal care homes The daily activities of a direct care staff member include helping the resident get ready, making meals for the resident and helping the with medical needs. The staff member will also be responsible for helping the resident entertain himself and participate in recreation.

Conditions

·         Personal care homes are provided to those with mental disability, like any homes, they are mostly clean and comfortable. The direct care staff members are responsible for the hygiene.

Skills

·         Direct care staff must have excellent interpersonal skills and patience, since they will sometimes be working with residents who have trouble regulating their emotions and since one of their major roles will be to provide companionship for the client. They must be detail-oriented, since they will be responsible for passing of all medication. They must also be aware of the regulations put in place by the state in regards to personal care homes.

CLS or Morc training must be completed
