I’m Doug Ferrari, a veteran comedian and comedy writer who has had much experience and success in writing speeches, presentations, and benefit roasts for people in all walks of life, even those who have never been onstage before. I have written for over 100 comedians, including Jay Leno, Rodney Dangerfield, and Dana Carvey. I have a Comedy Writing Service which writes acts for comedians. I do all needed coaching and advice, and charge a retainer for writing the jokes and routines and putting them into an act or a speech. If you already have the speech, I can punch it up. All my clients, even those who had just started, are now working regularly. One has a hit one-man show in New York which has been extended four times, and another has a hit one-man show which led to a book deal and book, a production deal with Rob Reiner for an HBO series, and has been running for years. I was executive secretary to a Vice-President at AT&T the last time I had a day job, and he received many positive notices for the quality of his letters. I write benefit roasts, including for San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, as well as show business executives, magazine editors, and even rock musicians and rock critics, and sometimes write for the man being roasted, taking notes during the whole show and handing them to him on cards so he can do his “rebuttal” at the end and steal the show. My other writing credits are too numerous to list here or on my website, dougferrari.com, but they include plays, books, TV comedy shows, an independent film, and six hours of stand-up material, two hours of which I do now in concert. You can see how I write for myself on the videos and blogs on the website—obviously I wrote corporate events totally clean.
