Ciao, my name is Dario and I am currently teaching private lessons of salsa/baciata/cha-cha-cha/merengue for beginner or intermediate to both female and male.
I have been dancing for more than 7 years, non-stop. Being Italian I put a lot of passion and professionalism into my teaching, so that I can best help who like me likes dancing Latin Music. During my years of practice I discovered new ways of learning salsa easily and quickly by focusing mostly on the body posture and on few important foot steps which will eventually become the foundation for more complex dancing combinations. I see learning salsa as building the foundation of a castle; if the first bricks are very solid later on learning more advanced routines will become much easier.
For Female Students: Good shoes are a must! You will see... having the right shoes will help you immensely!!!! Good shoes usually have a Suede layer underneath; they have to be comfortable and not too high hills in the beginning. You will need a little of patience in the beginning in following me through the technical part, than after that it's all about feeling, coordination and harmony with your partner. Looking at other good dancers, in movies or on the dance floor will also be very helpful to improve your skills.
For Male Students: If you want to bring your partner to learn salsa that’s great! So That I can teach to both of you, but if you don’t have a lady friend, you can still learn to dance. You only don’t have to be homophobic, since in the beginning we will have to dance together to get you started. In the Latin word usually men teach to men and if you think of it, it does make sense, since only a man will be able to help you learn how to lead. So just be flexible and easy going about it, and don’t worry I am straight!
Salsa dancing is more than just a dance for me. I believe it is an opportunity for two people to let go mentally and physically. The goal in salsa dancing is to reach that point in which both leader and follower stop thinking, and surrender totally to the rhythm of the Music. “Great dancers are the ones that disappear into the music so that only the Dance is.”
Feel free to email me, for more info, and if you like to share why you want to learn these wonderful dances you are more than welcome to do so. You can also email me your availability, and I will email you back my schedule trying my best to accommodate you.
Thanks
Ciao
Dario
