Radiation Effects Engineer
Responsibilities
The Radiation Effects Engineer implements the ionizing radiation control plan for space programs. This includes understanding electronic component applications within a design and then determining, by the review of radiation effects data &/or experimental test, if each component meets program objectives and customer requirements from a radiation effects perspective. This position requires for the Radiation Effects Engineer to interact effectively with design and component engineering staff.
Experience for the Radiation Effect Engineer Job
At least 3 years of relevant space radiation effects engineering experience to include the analysis of both single event effects and total ionizing dose in digital and/or analog electronic components.
At least 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in performing experimental measurements of one or more of the following for electronic components:
1) SEE effects with heavy ion, proton, and/or neutron beams.
2) TID/ELDRS effects.
At least 1 year of experience with the calculation of on-orbit SEE upset rates via Creme96, Space Radiation, or an equivalent tool. Reliability and/or EEE Component Engineering experience a plus.
Ability to obtain a security clearance is required
Education
B.S. or graduate degree in electrical engineering, physics, or other applicable engineering discipline.
