PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: As part of the Data Warehouse and Modeling shared service, provide data analysis, modeling and management to enable the availability of accurate, consistent, timely and well-defined data to support business decision-making. Provide business process consulting and modeling to enable the improvement of information requirements and business process engineering. Support solution delivery for both operational applications as well as the data warehouse environment using industry standard methodologies, notations and toolsets. Support the ongoing extensions of the enterprise Information and Process Architectures. RESPONSIBILITIES Facilitate information and/or process requirements gathering sessions to produce models and ancillary deliverables enabling modeling activities (e.g. logical data models, business process models, fact/qualifier matrices, state transition diagrams, and collaboration diagrams) in order to describe the process/information solution architecture. Ensure consistency between business process requirements and the supporting data requirements. Partner with Nordstrom Data Governance to ensure the safeguarding of data as a corporate asset Identify opportunities for reuse and sharing of data to enhance data value and information integrity while reducing the cost of data ownership. Identify opportunities to align process across the enterprise, realizing operational efficiencies. Manage the creation of meta data at both enterprise and operational levels and serve as the custodian for all modeling artifacts Contribute to the ongoing creation and extension of enterprise data and process models, including extensions to the Common Information Model (CIM) enabling enterprise data sharing Work closely with the EDW Data Acquisition, Data Management, and Data Delivery teams to determine the appropriate information integration approach. Create logical and physical data models for the EDW where necessary and create dimensional models to support data mart reporting requirements. Have familiarity with other data-related data warehouse activities, such as data profiling and ETL Collaborate with Application Architects, Systems Analysts, and business experts to identify opportunities for and cross-functional impacts of process reengineering, as well as ongoing Business Process Management opportunities Collaborate with business and IT delivery teams in the evaluation, selection and/or development of application software solutions Evaluate database designs for compliance with Nordstrom business requirements, as captured in data models Define and implement data management standards and best practices. Define and implement process modeling standards and methodology and mentor others on techniques and best practices Monitor ongoing developments in both data and process modeling techniques and standards; ensure Nordstrom compliance with such standards REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in creation of logical and physical data models, and related deliverables (e.g. state transition diagrams) at both application and enterprise levels Proficiency in business process modeling and understanding of relevant standards Experience in development of dimensional data models and related deliverables Experience with one or more data modeling tools, including CA AllFusion, ERwin Data Modeler Experience with one or more process modeling tools, e.g. CA AllFusion Process Modeler Experience in definition and implementation of data management practices Experience in building an enterprise Data Governance program preferred POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline A minimum of five years work experience in business analysis, logical and physical data modeling and business process modeling COMPETENCIES Analysis Skills?Ability to work at varying levels of abstraction, from the conceptual to the detailed.
