The Programmer Analyst/Developer will assist business partners with problem analysis, resolution and general support for the Merchandising Systems Suite of applications. He/She will work with all areas of Information Technology to enhance and support a broad range of production systems. He/She will work with others to ensure service levels are met, provide evaluations & solutions on business or technical issues, manage and perform activities to restore system functionality, field questions or requests for advice, and assure resolution and recovery activities occur in a timely and effective manner. This position also has secondary responsibilities (approximately 25%) for problem management and configuration management issues associated with merchandising systems product releases. You will work closely with Development, QA, IT and others to design and implement enhancements to automation for releasing products throughout the product life cycle while following configuration management best practices.



The Programmer Analyst/Developer will be a liaison to Business Analysts in the Full Line Stores' Business Information Office, assisting in planning and participating in project meetings. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential in maintaining and enhancing communications with our business partners.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting of all production issues - utilizing Unix/Oracle primarily, and Java

Work independently to pursue solutions and problem solve

Responsible for permanent problem resolution, resolution documentation and problem ticket closure

Participates in issue trend tracking and analysis and makes recommendations for improvement

Utilizes query tools to analyze and reconcile data and to produce ad hoc reports

Assist in performing quality assurance reviews of program code

Participate in rotational on-call responsibility

Design, build, test, and implement enhancements



SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Problem Management

Review problem tickets for accuracy and report problem trends

Collaborate with team members and Business Information Organization to resolve outstanding tickets/work orders and ongoing issues

Analyze and provide monthly reporting on system availability and problem management statistics



Configuration Management

Liaison to Configuration Mgmt Team to coordinate, bundle and submit code packages for production implementation created by Merchandising System Services development groups

Understands, monitors, and help leads change in the product life cycle and the development process to carry forward Configuration Management best practices

Maintain/update configuration management scripts used for production support activities



Process Documentation

Maintain/update Merchandise Systems Services website

Maintain/update Merchandise Systems Services documentation knowledge base



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years of experience analyzing, designing, coding, testing, installing and maintaining complex software programs

Two years experience working in a Unix/Oracle environment

Two years experience working with SQL

Business knowledge, preferably in the Fashion Retail industry

Willingness to be a team player as well as an independent performer

Ability to write technical specifications, develop, test, and manage the transition of modifications through the quality assurance and change control process

A commitment to maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction through investigation, analysis, implementation, instruction, and relationship building efforts

Process oriented with a strong emphasis on attention to detail

Strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills



ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

Knowledge and experience with retail ERP systems, especially Oracle Retail (RMS, RSS, RDF, MFP, MDO)

PL/SQL, Pro C, Korn Shell (ksh), JAVA, .NET, or Actuate programming a plus

Configuration Management experience a plus

Familiarity with system delivery lifecycle processes

Ability to quickly learn new technologies

Flexibility to work in a constantly changing environment

Good verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas with a diverse audience

Ability to dissect business problems into Functional Solutions

Ability to work smoothly and positively in a collaborative environment

Proven experience working with both internal and external customers

Group presentation skills and process redesign facilitation

Able to set and meet deliverable deadlines and estimates
