March 11, 2013: This ad was posted on this date and will continue to run and be kept up to date as we fill our slots. If we need to create a waiting list, we will inform you of that. Thanks for reading and we hope to hear from you.
It is my hope that you are seeking a responsible Educator with eighteen years of experience for professional tutoring services. If so, please read on.
I have been in education for 18 years, left a few years ago, obtained my Masters and now ready to continue my work of giving back through the service of tutoring.
I am transforming my home office into a “miniature classroom” but only holding four at a time as I wish to be able to provide a more personalized or one on one approach while working from home.
I am 48 years young so you may appreciate my approach and vision of teaching and learning being a more what is known to many as an “Old School Approach” for me meaning reinforcing the importance of accountability, respect, values and character building with my learners as my parents did for me.
I specialize in Reading Comprehension, Language Arts, Vocabulary, Spelling, Study Skills, Test Readiness and Writing and I have worked with grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 however, I am flexible regarding the levels I will assist based on what is needed of me. My students will be engaged in lessons that will be activity or Project Based as learning must be fun, interesting and relevant for it to make a positive impact.
I will cover the common core standards as required by the state. I will fill slots between the hours of 9:00am with last session ending at 11:30am and the second session slots between the hours of 1:30pm with last session ending at 6:00pm. Parents have the option of selecting the hours and the days they wish for their child(ren) to attend the tutoring sessions. I will inform you if your slots are open but please know, I will remain flexible out of respect for all the various schedules. If you wish to discuss hours other than those listed here, I am willing to do so during our phone consultation.
After extensive research regarding hourly rates for professional/certified tutors, I can definitely say that my hourly rate is very competitive at $50.00 an hour. My syllabus will also provide you with information regarding my discount program for students attending the center full-time (6 or more hours a week) and substantial discounts for full-time students whose parents pay weekly, monthly, semi-annually and annually.
I have prepared a syllabus that will provide you with all of the details needed from the required contracts, expectations for students, parents and myself, policies, behavior, our substantial discount program, home office insurance coverage, pick-up late policy, center donations, school supplies, refund policy and much more.
I have held leadership positions in education strictly focused on positive and negative behaviors. With that in mind, please understand that appropriate behavior is and will remain of utmost importance for me. The syllabus will provide more details regarding my behavior policy.
Step 1: (US Clients)--Once you email me regarding my services, I will request that we schedule a time to conduct a phone consultation to start the process of getting to know each other and get comfortable as building that trust is a major factor in this process. The purpose of the call will also be to discuss my services, start date/times, and your overall needs.
(International Clients)—You will be responsible for scheduling the call by email and calling me for the required initial phone consultation as detailed in step 1.
Step 2: (Local Clients)--I will request that we meet in a public place to go over all the required documents, sign, discuss our plan to move forward, payment plans and the location of my home tutoring center.
(Out of State and International Clients)—We will handle all the required details, reviewing documents, signatures, payment options etc., by phone/email. Please be mindful, since this is my “home” office, I must take all necessary safety measures so if we are not able to meet in person, you must understand my hesitation in providing my address to someone I have never met, and will only have access to by phone and email. My address is only important for local clients and even in that instance I have to take precautions for myself and my clients.
Step 3: (All Clients)—Option one; you may open a student account using the Wyzant tutoring service link below. They have a payment process that you will use and this will also provide you with access to my professional profile: http://www.wyzant.com/Tutors/TutoringByVanetta
*PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS THE “ONLY” PAYMENT OPTION WHERE ADVANCE PAYMENT IS NOT REQUIRED!”
(All Clients)—Your second payment option would be to set up a free account through PayPal www.paypal.com and make your advanced payments through this service only requiring you to have my email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
Step 4: (Local Clients)—As a third option since we are able to meet face to face, I will accept advanced payment in the form of a cashier’s check or money order during this initial meeting.
After we have completed these steps, we are ready to move forward and I am excited to provide this service so please do not hesitate to contact me if I have not addressed your questions here so we can get started!
Let’s get started!:)
