“Hands of Hope” is a partnership between 30 metropolitan churches in the Kansas City area, community members, and the Kansas City, Missouri School District. We are working together to makeover five schools in the district. These schools, Nathan Scarritt Elementary School, Satchel Paige, Longfellow, Ladd, and Westport, are in desperate needed of renovations. Aspects of the makeover include: basic cleanup, painting, yard work, and playground installation. This project demonstrates the power of unity and cooperation needed to bring positive change to our city. We are desperately in need of volunteers to help paint Nathan Scarrit Elementary School. There are two days when volunteers are needed, Wednesday, July 29th, and Thursday, July 30th. Scarritt is located just off Independence Avenue and Benton Boulevard, the address is 3509 Anderson (approximately two miles east of downtown). The principal is Gayle Bradshaw and if you are willing to volunteer send an email to the coordinator of the project, Sara, at Shjalmarson@hotmail.com.
