The successful candidate will be responsible for the Company's full cycle payroll accounting function, including processing the Company's multi-state bi-weekly payroll, including compliance filings, processing the funding of the Company's 401(k), H.S.A. and other benefit plans. Journalize payroll-related journal entries and reconcile corresponding general ledger accounts. Also responsible for processing employee timekeeping records on a weekly basis. Contribute to the Accounting Department's success by driving process improvement and ensuring policies and procedures are documented.
Ensure that employee payroll bi-weekly processing is in compliance with federal and state laws.
Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll for approximately 400-500 employees accurately including the corresponding funding of the Company's 401(k), H.S.A. and other benefit plans.
Audit employee pay records and reconcile totals by ledger account, funding account, etc.
Prepare payroll-related journal entries within established month end close time line and reconcile corresponding accounts.
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, including any payroll related filings, W-2s, quarterly and annual tax filings, etc. per IRS regulations.
Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation, transactions support documents, income statements, funding reports, etc.
Collect and process employee time sheet data on a weekly basis.
Perform research and resolve payroll-related discrepancies.
Assist with process improvement initiatives, documentation of payroll processes and procedures, accounting policies and procedures, and other special projects.
Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll practices.
Minimum seven (7) years of full-cycle payroll accounting including multi-state payroll.
High school diploma/GED required.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent work experience preferred.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) desired but not required.
Familiarity with federal, state and local laws as it relates to payroll; strong working knowledge of payroll best practices.
Experience with UltiPro Payroll Software and with accounting software or large ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, etc.)
Strong PC skills, high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
