What is Neighborhood Revitalization?
Habitat for Humanity of Burlington County & Greater Trenton-Princeton’s Neighborhood Revitalization Program helps neighborhoods become stronger, more resilient, and more sustainable by partnering with low-to-moderate-income homeowners to perform minor, exterior improvements that preserve their home and make it safer and more accessible. Homeowners work with Habitat’s experienced staff and volunteers to together revitalize the appearance of neighborhoods, strengthen personal connections within the community, and keep homeowners in their homes.
How does it work?
-- Habitat focuses on minor, exterior improvements to houses, including, but not limited to:
- Minor carpentry repairs (porches, doors, floors, steps)
- Exterior painting and power washing
- General cleaning and landscaping (cutting down brush and shrubbery, planting flowers and bushes, mowing lawns, trash removal)
-- Approved homeowners will be asked to pay a fee that is determined as a percentage of the total repair cost that is based on their level of income (see application* for more detail)
-- Active-duty military, veterans, reservists, and their families are given the opportunity to participate in this program at no cost.
