My name is Erica and I am hoping to be blessed by someone in better financial standers than myself. I am currently a full-time student parent working towards a BA in secondary education (social studies) with a minor in history and justice studies. I decided to return to school at the age of 28 after having my child. At the time I thought it was the best choice for our future.
I have recently been notified that my student loans have reached over $50,000 and I still have two years to complete. Finding out this information has become overwhelming. What I thought was a great choice for our future has now become a financial struggle. Although I am currently working and will continue to work after graduating, I will still not make enough money to pay off my student loans in a timely manner.
As a single mother, I am determined to take care of my child and my responsibilities. As much as I would love to work 40+ hours a week while going to school full-time reality is, I can’t. I do everything I can do to divide my time between being a single mom, a student and, an employee.
My goal is to become a teacher for emotionally disturbed children. Before having my child, I was a teacher assistance at an all-boys residential school. I’ve worked with both Family and Children Services and Adult Services. I am currently working for a non-profit organization as a PASS worker for an autistic child while I complete my education.
If I can find help with paying back my student loans, I will be forever grateful. Being able to receive this support would truly be life-changing for both myself and my child.
