I would like to volunteer in a nursing home to help with the elderly. I am retired and looking for something that I enjoy to fill the void of not working.
I might consider something outside of a nursing home setting if the fit is right. I do have previous experience of working in a nursing home and enjoyed my time there.
I watched my elderly mother suffer with depression because she lived alone and the only time she had someone to talk to or spend time with was when I would visit. I did my best to visit weekly, but it couldn't always be worked out that way. We lived about an hour away from each other so when I did visit I would usually spend a few nights with her, sometimes longer.
I've heard from others and seen myself how many of the elderly are just left alone without anyone to care. I lost my mother July 1st and decided that I would do whatever I could to help other elderly people even if it only meant a social visit to help with their loneliness.
I will not charge anything or anyone for help that I might be able to provide, it is my passion. So, if you know of someone or have a relative that could use a little help and a friend, please get in touch with me and together we'll see what we can make happen.
