I see it every time I look on Christian news sites or watch Christian TV. It is very obvious that far too many so-called Christians never have or very seldom actually study what they say they believe in, God’s written word, the Bible. How can the truths of God’s word be shared with others when most are Biblically illiterate? It can’t be done. So, what should one do? Obey God and study His Word! See 2 Timothy 2:15 in a KJV Bible. All verses come from a KJV Bible!
One goal is to be able to teach others and answer their questions with humbleness and reverence to God. Some will ask you a question when they sense the hope and peace that is in you. We do this to lead them toward God, not to drive them away from God.
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. [Share the truth with others so they will be able to teach as well. Where do you find that truth? See Psalm 119:128 and John 17:17, among other scriptures].
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. [This is how you equip yourself to be able to teach others with truths from scriptures, through study].
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. [All scripture can be used to correct and teach others].
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: [How do you become ready to answer every man that asks about the hope they see in you? 2 Timothy 2:15 and 3:16 tell you. Do it with humbleness and reverence/awe of God (meekness and fear)].
Why teach? To lead others to Him. What do you teach? God's ways, not man's ways. See Psalm 51:13.
There is only the Bible, the single source of power that will change our lives from the inside out. But it takes effort, diligent, everyday effort, to know the God who controls everything. If we drink deeply of His Word and let it fill our minds and hearts, the sovereignty of God will become clear to us, and we will rejoice in it because we will know intimately and trust completely the God who controls all things for His perfect purpose.
Study the Bible diligently and learn Christ's doctrines. Then you can teach Christ's doctrines. How can you teach others if you don't know Christ's doctrines? Not a good idea to pass on doctrines and traditions of men. See 1 Timothy 6:3-5 and 2 John 1:9-11.
