This position serves an integral role in strategic planning for the Operations area of the department. It reports to the Associate Director for Operations and is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Housing and Residential Life Facilities Management Office. This includes, but is not limited to, fielding inquiries from residents and/or families, coordinating summer maintenance with OSU Facilities Management, providing overall coordination with contracted housekeeping company, vendors, and other service providers. Assists the Associate Director with strategic planning, including development and implementation of five year facility planning and on-going renovations. The position is the immediate supervisor of the full-time staff in the Facilities Management, and the indirect supervision of the Facilities Student Support Crew. The position also participates in the recruitment, selection and training of student staff as well as providing training and oversight to the professional staff and graduate student staff for the department. There will be many times throughout the year when the Operations Manager will be expected to work evenings and weekends.   Required qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in business or a related field and five years related experience. Candidates must have an understanding and commitment to the objectives of higher education; ability to work cooperatively with University students and staff; proven developed communication skills in writing and speaking; and evidence of leadership ability. Demonstrated expertise with staff supervision is required. Progressively responsible positions of leadership with a minimum of one year of supervision experiences. One year experience with event planning, meeting coordination, and other hospitality services. Evidence of sensitivity to/and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background is essential. The candidate should possess an entrepreneurial spirit, superior attention to detail, skills in working with a diverse group of people, ability to work collaboratively, and the ability to present a professional public image. Candidate should possess strong computer skills including but not limited to: email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.  Knowledge of StarRez and Roompact is preferred, but not required.
