Assures the safe transportation of all Head Start children, staff and volunteers. Operates bus to pick-up and deliver children to and from the Head Start facility according to standards established by the Head Start program. Must provide safe bus transportation for Head Start children, assuring that each child is picked up and delivered on schedule. Cooperate with Teachers to promote the health, safety and education of each child. Workers with center staff to assure a smooth flow of written communication between families and Head Start facilities. Responsible for the overall cleaning and maintenance of bus. Responsible for the overall cleaning, sanitizing, maintenance and upkeep of all Head Start buildings and adjacent grounds, including playgrounds, and related equipment, with a goal of assuring conditions exist for optimal operations and compliance with state and local codes and safety and sanitary rules and regulations. Must attend job related, in-service, meetings, and trainings to maintain professional and technical knowledge. Shares a general responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children enrolled in the Head Start Program. Must be 21 years of age with high school diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement. Knowledge of auto mechanics relevant to school bus maintenance and operation is required. Must possess basic carpentry and equipment skills, with experience in general maintenance and electromechanical repairs. Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aide certification. Must produce proof annually of negative Tuberculosis Tine Test. Prefer previous experience in working with pre-school children, food service, and commercial cleaning. OSBI background check and Oklahoma DHS Criminal Background Review required. Proof of auto insurance. Within 30 days of employment must be Pediatric first aid and CPR certified. Lifting up to 75 lbs.
