The publication began in July 1951 as Indiana Rural News before being renamed Electric Consumer in the early 1980s. In February 2013, Electric Consumer was redesigned beginning with the February 2013 printed issue as a 32-page magazine, after almost 62 years as a newspaper tabloid. In March 2019, Electric Consumer was renamed to Indiana Connection to better reflect the growing diversity of co-op services and connection with the communities we serve.
