The word "Anayirankal dam" means, the dam where the elephants come down to drink water. The main attraction of this place is its natural beauty and the scenic drive along the route to this location. Tourist can catch sightings of the elephant herds that come down to the lake from the nearby forests. A fascinating destination for anthropologists and archaeologists from all over the world, Muniyara has remnants of Dolmenoid cists belonging to the Megalithic age.
