The Supervisor of Developmental Services maintains ongoing residential effectiveness by assuring the administrative coordination of a variety of safety, therapeutic and operational issues within the Developmental Services program. They are responsible for administrative activities and oversight of a residential program, including the supervision of program DSP’s and relief DSP’s.
• Demonstrate leadership by coordinating all developmental services residential program components for assigned homes.
• Serve as Supervisor on Duty when assigned by assuming responsibility for phone coverage, crisis intervention and insuring adequate staffing.
• Provide a safe, structured group living milieu by ensuring the physical safety and welfare for residents, including hygiene, clothing, food and medical care.
• Make sure that adequate supplies are in the residences for morning routine.
• Ensure residences are secured during the shift.
• Communication with each residence prior to night shift arrival.
• Maintain upkeep of homes by assuring the maintenance of a safe, clean and pleasant group living environment.
• Assure proper staffing levels by participating in the hiring of Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff.
• Assist in DSP staff training as assigned.
• Participate in the development and implementation of program changes that respond to the changing needs of the consumers.
• Ensure positive job results for residential staff by monitoring and appraising job performance.
• Achieve organization financial objectives by providing input into the budget.
• Works with consumers and guardians by demonstrating thorough understanding of the person-centered practice, communicating understanding of the systems, facilitating contact with the guardians (where appropriate) and team and being personally familiar with all involved families.
• Direct, support, and participate in identifying, removing or reducing the likelihood of common safety concerns.
• Collaboration with the program clinician to ensure milieu environment is in line with the Person-Centered-Plan.
• Timely completion of required documentation for overnight staff and the units.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
• Must pass the competency tests Direct Support Worker
• Must obtain certification in CRMA.
• Must maintain a valid state driver’s license
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Four years’ experience working in the with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities preferred.
