The Marriott International HQ located at 10400 Fernwood Road, Bethesda, MD 20817 is currently hiring a Senior Program Specialist - Media Relations.

Responsibilities include: The Media Relations group, as part of the Global Communications & Public Affairs Department, is responsible for developing and executing a strategic, innovative and integrated corporate communications program that both drives the business and advances the company’s reputation through proactive and reactive external media relations campaigns and serving as a day-to-day strategist for internal clients, with frequent interaction and counsel to various top-level executives. The Senior Program Specialist will provide direct support to the Vice President, Media Relations as well as some departmental support for the broader media relations team. This position will be responsible for supporting a variety of projects and initiatives related to external media relations, in addition to other administrative duties and special projects. This position reports to the Vice President, Media Relations. Expected Contributions The Senior Program Specialist will be responsible for the following: Manage the corporate media relations calendar tracking all external communications and activities Develop and manage media lists as well as track media coverage for various announcements Develop briefing documents for external engagements and media interviews for senior executives Assist with communications plans for various company initiatives as necessary Support asset development for various external initiatives – such as message documents, fact sheets, and infographic Provide support to other team members’ projects as needed, and relevant event logistics. Provide support to Vice President, Media Relations, including planning and scheduling travel arrangements, reserving hotel accommodations, processing expense reports, scheduling meetings, editing documents such presentations, agendas, memos, letters, spreadsheets, and other business documents. Process payroll for the group. Assist in other administrative duties on an as needed basis. Candidate Profile Successful candidates should possess the knowledge, skills, and experience as follows: Minimum of one (1) year experience in communications or related field required; experience at public relations agency preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office – demonstrated expertise in Outlook (managing calendar), visual presentations, photo selection, cropping and captioning, plus experience working with Excel. Adobe Suite, Final Cut and social media monitoring tools a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills; high degree of professionalism; polished presence. Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through on tasks to completion. Ability to work well under pressure; anticipate, set and adapt to continually changing workload priorities; and effectively manage multiple tasks. Detailed oriented with effective time management skills; ability to work independently and as part of a multi-functional team. High-energy, positive, can-do attitude; professional demeanor; strong customer service orientation; good judgment and discretion; diligence, dependability, and strong work ethic. Ability to work in fast-paced environment and participate in the logistics and management of special events and volunteer projects. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and documents; flexibility for overtime when needed. Education: Bachelor's degree required preferably in communications, journalism or public relations.
