There is no certain fixed list of documents to do international shipping. It always depends upon the commodity, POD (Port of Discharge), and the destination country of your cargo to be shipped. But here is a list of some must-have documents recommended by all international shipping companies.
A proforma invoice gives a detailed description of the goods and price, currency, and delivery details of the shipment. The commercial Invoice looks similar to a Performa Invoice but carries some additional important details like- the purchase order number or customer reference number. Packing List or Packing Sheet, which is used to make a Bill of Lading and helps to go through the detailed product and category description with the amount and number of the package. An Inland Bill of Lading is the most important document required in international shipping. It is considered the contract of carriage between the importer and shipper. COO (Certificate of Origin), helps to identify and prove the origin information of the commodity.
