The Marriott International HQ located at 10400 Fernwood Road, Bethesda, MD 20817 is currently hiring a Manager, Content Strategy & Internal Communications.

Responsibilities include: Global Internal Communications, a function of Global Communications & Public Affairs (GCPA), is charged with enterprise wide communications for Marriott International, including amplification of Marriott’s corporate storytelling through an agile and integrated platform that includes social and digital distribution channels. The internal communications team is responsible for the strategy, creation and overall management and delivery of a portfolio of enterprise-wide communications programs and channels that is designed to educate, engage and excite Marriott associates globally while also continuing to advance the company’s culture and values. The Manager, Content Strategy and Internal Communications is responsible for executing the enterprise wide communications strategy by working with stakeholders within GCPA and outside the department to identify key announcements, write articles, secure images and produce videos and manage the distribution of that content through Marriott’s internal communications vehicles (Headline News, MI Pulse, HQ Digital Boards, Marriott Global Source (MGS) Home Page, Heart of the House). The Manager, Content Strategy and Internal Communications is also responsible for managing and distributing executive communications as well as working with the Integration Management Office on enterprise wide communications that support and advance the company’s integration with Starwood. Additionally, this position will support key associate engagement activations and communications programs, ensuring they accurately and consistently convey and affirm the company’s key messages and goals. This position reports directly to the Director, Internal Communications. Expected Contributions The primary responsibilities of this position include: Serve as lead writer and Editor-in-Chief of Headline News, MI Pulse, MGS home page content, and Heart of the House stories; maintain appropriate distribution lists; attend Editorial Board meetings for these channels. Create, plan, and execute communications strategies to effectively disseminate key messages. Review and copy-edit speeches, stage/audio/video scripts, biographies, Q&A, talking points, leadership messages, and other executive communications. Manage and distribute executive emails and announcements as well as other executive communications (e.g., Quarterly Leadership messages, Top 250 messages). Maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external resources for news and data regarding industry, company, investor relations, legislation, social impact, diversity, etc. Support the Internal Communications team with design and production of key communications programs and their supporting assets (e.g., Global Communicators Summit, Senior Leadership Forums, Worldwide Business Forums, General Managers' Conferences). Supervise posting of content on HQ Digital Boards. Refresh messaging and maintain and editorial calendar. Recommend to department leaders how to evolve communication vehicles as well as associate engagement activities to help optimize communications flow, message integration, and delivery platforms as well as to grow readership/followers. Handle protocols for internal announcements. Create alignment by taking concepts/ideas from various stakeholders and creating visually compelling content. Requirements For Position Candidates should possess knowledge and experience as well as demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in internal communications, journalism or public relations. Travel, or hospitality or background preferred. Outstanding written and verbal communications skills; ability to present ideas and information in a concise, organized manner, with excellent time management skills. Ability to write internal communications content including articles, statements and executive messages. Demonstrated understanding of the digital/social landscape. Experience managing an editorial calendar and successfully driving a content plan aligned to a strategy. Ability to analyze content and channel effectiveness. Ability to deliver results in a pressure-driven, deadline-oriented environment. Excellent judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment. Natural curiosity about the company and industry that leads to creative thinking about communications topics and engagement strategies. Results-driven strategic thinker. Ability to think holistically; identify and prioritize key opportunities; and, implement change expediently. Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and work effectively with outside resources. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other relevant software. Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing required. Master’s degree a plus.
