This is 2.27-acres (98,881 square feet) residential property, just north of Sespe Street. It has 330 feet of frontage on Gerber, one football field (including an end zone). It is 300 feet deep. There are scattered neighbors, occasional jackrabbits, and scattered wildflowers briefly in the spring. Access to Gerber Avenue is via paved Reche Road. The lot behind it is available as well, making 4.54 acres if you acquired both of them. They are part of the orderly liquidation of our family land trust. Zero down is OK.
This area is served water by the Bighorn Water District. So Cal Edison provides electric service to the many homes in the area. To the east lies the Marine Base, to the north of 29 Palms, which provides continuity of employment for contractors and civilians living in the area, as well as another source of customers for the local merchants and vendors. The Marine families also contribute to the values and vibrancy of the local economy.
Get there via Reche Road. Turn south on Covelo Ave (just east of Alta Ave, you'll see why shortly!). Just after 0.3 miles you will see the clutter at 644 Covelo. There is a house behind 644 Covelo (it is 635 Alta Ave), remember what it looks like, and continue two more lots south to Sespe Street. Turn left on Sespe one block east to Gerber. Turn left (north) on Gerber and proceed just over 0.1 mile (660 feet, or 264 steps if you want to walk it). Park the car, the 2.27 acres are on your left. Line up with the south boundary of the 635 Alta house, that's the same line as the south boundary of your Gerber property. Walk north 330' (132 steps), line up with the north boundary of the 635 Alta house, that is the north boundary of your Gerber property.
Actually, there is an easier way to find the property. Stop right in front of 644 Covelo. Look across the street to the east. (That land is also available.) Together the acreage across the street from 644 Covelo and the lot directly behind it (on Gerber) totals 4.54 acres. Take one or both, your choice.
If you feel like it, walk west across either parcel 300 feet (120 steps) to the back of the property. You will probably see a faint, narrow north-south trail right there in the middle of the block, marking roughly the back property line. The Zip Code is 92284, and the Thomas Guide is 4748 F4.
Here are the GPS coordinates of roughly the center of the property. Use your favorite mapping system and take a look for yourself. You can zoom in to count the bunnies, or zoom out to scope the neighborhood.
