St. James Place is Louisiana's first Continuing Care Retirement Community and has been established since 1983. Our continuum of care includes independent living, long term and skilled nursing care, assisted living, companion services, and two distinct levels of memory care to fit the individual needs of each resident. On our campus, there is a salon and fitness center available to our staff at a discounted rate. Also, our Acorn Cafe, on campus is available for staff to purchase a delicious hot lunch. Schedules vary within these hours of operation: Sunday through Saturday: 10:00 am – 7:00pm or Wednesday through Sunday 10:30am - 7:30pm. Weekend Hours are required.
The Wait-staff provides exceptional dining service to residents in a timely, courteous, efficient, and accurate manner. He or she performs a variety of duties related to meal service, including greeting residents, taking orders, stocking, cleaning, catering for meal service. The wait-staff presents ordered choices and responds to any other inquiries or requests regarding food and beverage selections. Responsible for removing courses and dinnerware as they are completed. The Wait-staff members assist with cleaning and other kitchen duties as needed.
The ideal candidate will have a personable demeanor, good communication and listening skills, and the ability to perform the physical aspects of the position including standing and walking for long periods and carrying food trays. Experience in the food service/catering industry is a plus.
Sets up dining areas before mealtimes and cleans dining areas after following all safety and sanitation standards
Takes orders and serves meals and beverages promptly and courteously
Portions and plates any salad or dessert items to be served during the meal service
Clears tables of used dishes, glasses, and silverware during mealtimes
Responds in professional manner to patrons in the dining room and resolves concerns
Ensures resident satisfaction with their meal experience
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous customer service experience preferred
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
Helpful attitude and friendly demeanor
Knowledge of general sanitary and safety practices
