The TDP 5 is a single punch tablet press with a maximum pressure of 50 kn. It is designed to be mounted on a work bench, but can readily be un-mounted and relocated. The machine offers an adjustable fill depth with a maximum depth of 16 mm, and can produce tablets up to 20mm in diameter and 6mm thick. The TDP 5 does not restrict you to regular shaped tablets. Simply by changing the mould on the machine you can produce tablets of almost any shape you choose. You can also adjust the density of the tablet produced, and the machine gives you the option of stamping designs onto the surface of the tablet, either to give an attractive finish or for identification purposes. Given the TDP 5’s popularity with research and development applications, many users report that they find this a helpful feature, as it allows small quantities of tablets each containing a different formulation to be produced for clinical trials.
This pill press is compatible with most granulated or powdered materials, but it is not intended for use with overly moist materials or superfine powders.
Designed with convenience in mind, the TDP 5 is a highly practical machine that can either be electrically powered or used in manual mode. In manual mode, the tablet press is operated simply by turning a cranking wheel. Combined with a small footprint and low weight for a pill press of this specification, this flexibility makes the TDP 5 more versatile and portable than other machines offering comparable performance.
The TDP 5 tablet press has measurements of 700 mm x 400 mm x 800 mm, and weighs 125 kg. It has a turret speed of 1400 r/min when running on electricity, and its motor operates at a maximum power of 0.75 KW for single phase use, and 0.55 KW for three-phase use. The machine can run on mains power that supplies either 110v or 220v.
TDP 5 Tablet Press in Use
This tablet press is exceptionally easy to use, and despite its small size it offers a number of advantages that distinguish it from comparable machines.
To run the pill press by hand you simply place the raw materials in the cone-shaped container, then grasp the wheel and turn it gently. Your newly made tablets will then appear, ready to be bottled. It is a simple process that anyone can learn quickly. If you are just making a few tablets this simplicity really comes into its own, and is a key feature of the machine. Alternatively, if you need to produce a larger batch of tablets, just plug your machine in and it will run quickly and smoothly on electric power.
Developing and testing pills often requires the creation of tablets containing similar but slightly different formulations. The TDP 5 includes several features that make it especially suited to this role.
Firstly, it is a highly efficient tablet press whose low consumption helps you achieve more pills from a set amount of raw material. Secondly, a particular advantage of the TDP 5 is that it can be operated using a minimum quantity of just 200g of material. This is perfect for research or developmental work, where you may just want to press a few tablets for initial testing purposes. Later, once you have identified promising formulations, you can use the TDP 5 to run off larger batches for distribution in full scale testing.
Thirdly, the TDP 5 allows you to safeguard the efficacy of the testing process, by making sure that the tablets you produce can be easily identified. This is important to ensure that the right formulation is given to the right subject. The TDP 5 meets this challenge thanks to the ease with which you can change the shape, size or design of the tablets you press. As long as you have a mould for the tablet you want to make, you can change the design quickly by removing the hopper and unscrewing the feeder mechanism.
You can also quickly adjust the density and weight of the tablets you produce on the TDP 5, simply by unscrewing a nut on the connecting rod and adjusting the pressure.
Maintenance of the TDP 5 is undemanding too, requiring little more than a twice monthly inspection, and oiling and greasing of key moving parts. The machine has been designed to make this schedule as simple as possible.
The TDP 5 represents excellent value for money and offers unmatched versatility. Easy maintenance and the option of creating small tablet runs by hand make this a very convenient machine to use, while the ability to run on electric power and produce larger batches of 5,000 tablets an hour effectively gives you two machines in one. It is not surprising that the TDP 5 is one of the most popular machines in its class.
