Smart Contract Engineer

About Us: Ostium Labs is a pioneering company focused on developing the first perpetuals DEX designed specifically for Real World Assets, starting with commodities and forex. As a rapidly growing startup with a current team size of 1-10 members, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Solidity Smart Contract Engineer to join our team. This role involves collaborating closely with our CTO, founding engineer, and other team members to design, develop, test, and deploy smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Smart Contract Development:

   • Design and develop smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain and EVM L2s (Arbitrum, Optimism).
   • Ensure the quality, reliability, and security of smart contract code through comprehensive unit testing and code reviews.

2. Collaboration:

   • Work closely with team members, including the product head, designers, and back-end developers, to iterate on protocol architecture.

3. Codebase Maintenance:

   • Implement and maintain the smart contract codebase, incorporating changes based on feedback and user requirements.

4. Project Management:

   • Assist with project management, including creating project plans, timelines, milestones, and tracking progress against those plans.

Requirements:

1. Experience:

   • At least 3 years of experience in Solidity smart contract development, including exchange architecture design.

2. Security and Industry Knowledge:

   • Deep understanding of smart contract security vulnerabilities and best practices.
   • Strong knowledge of the DeFi ecosystem, including familiarity with other blockchain platforms and protocols.
   • Basic knowledge of the economics of AMMs, CLOBs, and other liquidity architectures in DeFi.

3. Skills:

   • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a passion for tackling complex technical challenges.
   • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Hiring Criteria:

• Must be able to work in NYC or London 1/3 of the time.
• DEX/AMM understanding (liquidity pool models, fee structures, risk).
• Experience deploying smart contracts on Ethereum and EVM L2s.
• Very strong solidity experience.
• < 2 hours travel from London or NYC.
