Jesus’ Words on the Widow’s Offering

In Mark 12:41–44, Jesus sat opposite the temple treasury and watched the crowd putting money in. Many rich people gave large amounts, but a poor widow came and placed two small copper coins — worth only a few cents. Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything — all she had to live on” 

Meaning and Application 

Jesus’ words emphasize that the value of a gift is not measured by the amount given, but by the proportion of one’s resources that is offered. The widow’s offering, though small in monetary terms, represented her entire livelihood, showing complete trust and sacrifice.
