Full job description :

Job Description: Press Tool Maker (Auto Product Manufacturing   Welding, Stamping, Pipe Cutting, Press Shop)

Position Overview:

The Press Tool Maker is responsible for designing, manufacturing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing press tools, dies, and fixtures used in welding, stamping, pipe cutting, and press shop operations. This role ensures that tools and dies function correctly to maintain high production efficiency and product quality in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tool and Die Manufacturing & Assembly

Design, fabricate, and assemble press tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for stamping, welding, and pipe cutting processes.
Operate and program CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other toolroom equipment to manufacture precise components.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate tool fabrication.

2. Tool Maintenance & Repair

Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of press tools and dies to ensure smooth production.
Identify worn-out or damaged tool components and conduct necessary repairs or replacements.
Conduct die sharpening, regrinding, and alignment adjustments to maintain tool precision.

3. Press Shop & Production Support

Work closely with the production and maintenance teams to optimize tool performance and minimize downtime.
Assist press setters and operators in setting up and adjusting tools for production.
Ensure tools meet required tolerances and function properly for high-volume manufacturing.

4. Quality Control & Precision Measurement

Conduct inspections of finished tools and dies using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges, calipers, and CMMs.
Ensure that tools produce components that meet dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements.
Identify defects in tooling and implement corrective actions to enhance quality.

5. Process Improvement & Optimization

Recommend design modifications or improvements to enhance tool life, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
Work with engineers and designers to develop new press tools and optimize manufacturing processes.
Implement best practices for tool maintenance and standardization.

6. Safety & Compliance

Follow safety protocols while working with heavy machinery and cutting tools.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Train junior toolmakers and press shop personnel on proper tool handling and safety measures.
Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Background:

Diploma/Certificate in Tool and Die Making, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Apprenticeship training in toolroom operations is preferred.
Experience:

Minimum 2 to 5  years of experience in tool and die making for welding, stamping, pipe cutting, and press shop applications.
Hands-on experience with press tools, progressive dies, and compound dies.

Technical Expertise:

Strong knowledge of toolroom machinery, including milling machines, grinders, lathes, and CNC machining.
Expertise in die setting, tool assembly, and precision measurement techniques.
Understanding of metal forming, blanking, piercing, and deep drawing processes.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Mastercam) for tool design is an advantage.
Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot tool-related production issues.
Excellent attention to detail and precision in machining and tool adjustments.
Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with production and quality teams.

Working Conditions:

Factory-based role with exposure to heavy machinery, presses, and high-temperature environments.
May require shift work and overtime during urgent tool repairs or high production demand.
Compensation:

Competitive salary and benefits package based on experience and technical expertise.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay:  25k -  35k per month
