Newfoundland International Vacation Group Ltd. (NIVG) was founded in 2015. We are an asset-based tour operator and travel agency. Our core purpose is to attract tourists from all over the world to visit and explore the beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition to offering high-end customized tours to group bus tours, we also provide air tickets and cruise booking services. At NIVG we value the opportunity to create a long-term relationship with our clients, and we do that by making sure to exceed their expectations. After the lifting of Covid-19 travel restrictions, the tourism industry in Newfoundland will increase rapidly soon. To expand our business and better serve our customers, we are looking for motivated and talented people to join our team.

Compensation: $22/hour for 40 hours per week

Location: St. John’s, NL

In the role of Customer service clerk, the candidate will be responsible for:

  • Interact with clients, both in-person and through other channels like phone or email. They answer questions, address concerns, and provide detailed information about travel options, packages, and services.
  • handle bookings for travel, accommodations, and activities. This involves using specialized software to book flights, hotels, car rentals, and other travel services as per the client's requirements.
  • assist in planning travel itineraries. They suggest destinations, routes, and must-see attractions based on the client’s preferences and budget.
  • help clients in understanding and completing necessary travel documentation such as visas, passports, and insurance policies. They may also guide clients through travel regulations and requirements.
  • Handling complaints and resolving issues is a key part of their job. This may include dealing with cancellations, changes in travel plans, and addressing any dissatisfaction with travel services.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest travel advisories, destination information, and promotional offers is vital. They need to be knowledgeable about various destinations, travel trends, and cultural norms.
  • Clerks are responsible for processing payments, issuing invoices, and managing financial transactions related to travel bookings.
  • follow up with clients to gather feedback, address post-travel concerns, and foster a relationship for future travel planning.
  • assist in promotional activities, like distributing marketing materials, updating social media, and participating in travel fairs or promotional events.
  • managing client records, preparing reports, and maintaining a tidy and organized workspace are also part of their responsibilities.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High school graduation and prior work experience is a plus.
  • Be capable of multitasking.
  • Have good verbal communication skills.
  • Possess conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Show dedication to maintaining quality.
  • Have the ability to quickly solve problems.
