Salary: $28.08 - $29.36 / hour

 

The Challenge

We are hiring an HBCU Fellow to join our HBCU Program team to help with our HBCU/MSI outreach.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Create materials for internship and fellowship programs (flyers, invitations, presentations, reports).
  • Conduct basic research for potential external partnership sources and maintain database; support Office of HBCU Outreach initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain positive interagency relationships with state agencies, college and university partners, and various stakeholders to gather and share information and best practices.
  • Regularly discuss common goals and challenges with office.
  • Strategize with office to determine what resources are needed to identify and hire interns and fellows.
  • Attend career fairs, career events, community outreach events, agency events for recruitment and outreach initiatives.
  • Assist with HR and administrative functions such as onboarding documentation, offboarding documentation, inventory management, etc.
  • Collaborate and assist with internships, fellowships, mentorships, and K-12 initiatives.

 

What You Bring

  • Working knowledge of administrative and office techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to research, coordinate, organize, and present data.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong interpersonal/human relations skills and the ability to work collaboratively with partners.
  • Interest in working with college and K-12 students.
  • Authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now and in the future.

 

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from a North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) earned between 2022-2025, or
  • A current graduate/law school student; or
  • Enrolled in a Master's/professional-level program at an NC HBCU/MSI.

  

Notes:

  • This fellowship is a year-long temporary position that may be eligible for health insurance under the High Deductible Health Plan.
