THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation needs a motivated Real Estate Specialist who enjoys meaningful, hands-on work. In this role, you support major improvements that help travelers and communities every day. You will work with property owners, manage key details, and help keep projects on track. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will support PennDOT in acquiring and managing real property needed for transportation projects and public use. The work you will do also involves supervising outdoor advertising activities and overseeing state-owned property management within District 1. As a Real Estate Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Right-of-Way Review: Examine right-of-way plans and provide comments that address impacts and needed improvements
  • Property Acquisition: Prepare documents, meet with claimants, and explain how projects affect their properties
  • Valuation and Relocation: Complete waiver valuations and prepare materials related to residential and business relocations
  • Outdoor Advertising Oversight: Manage database systems and communication related to outdoor advertising devices and permits
  • Property Management: Maintain property lists and oversee leasing of state-owned real estate
  • Record Research: Review courthouse documents to identify ownership, easements, and other property details

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Real Estate Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of technical real estate experience and an associate degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires the possession of an active Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

 

Other Requirements:
