Position: Sushi Chef (Junior level position)

Wages: CAD$30.00-35.00/hour (depending on skills and experience)

Types: Full-time, Permanent (various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays)

Working hours: 30-40 hours/week

Benefit: 4% of vacation pay

Job Duties:

• Prepare and cook sushi and other Japanese dishes following established restaurant recipes
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of orders
• Assist in planning menus and special house sauce and recipes to improve tastes and maintain signature flavor profiles
• Follow and maintain specialized recipes to ensure all sushi dishes meet high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency
• Monitor inventory levels of seafood, rice, and other ingredients, reporting needs to management to assist in cost control
• Select, inspect, and handle fish and seafood with care to maintain maximum freshness and quality
• Prepare sushi rice, ensuring the texture, temperature, and seasoning meet restaurant standards
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times
• Adapt to new techniques and menu updates to ensure dishes remain current with modern culinary trends and seasonal availability
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances

Job Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school;
• Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial food preparation including two years in a supervisory capacity and experience as a chef are required.
• Skills demonstrations, including taste and plating abilities, may be required.
