Sushi Island Japanese Restaurant is located at 105-1633 Hillside Ave, Victoria BC V8T 2C4. We are currently looking for a permanent, full time Specialty foods chef (Japanese foods). If you are interested, please submit your resume by e-mail.

Position: Specialty foods chef

Wages: CAD$28.00-35.00/hour (depending on skills and experiences)

Types: Full-time, Permanent

Working hours: 30-40 hours/week

Benefits:  4% of vacation pay

Job Duties:

• Plan and instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of sushi foods
• Prepare and cook Japanese foods, specialty foods and chef’s specials
• Create new recipes
• Plan menus and ensure sushi food meets quality and safety standards
• Demonstrate and train new cooking techniques/equipment to staff
• Supervise activities of cooks and staff
• Monitor and requisition food and supplies
• Arrange any repair /purchase of equipment
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies  

Job Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school;
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in commercial food preparation required.
• Cook's trade certification an asset
